Digital Cast Board
This was an opportunity to create a unique piece of software developed to meet the exact requirements of MAMMA MIA! London. The brief was to create a digital version of the 'Cast Board' which is a large display in the foyer of the theatre, which displays which artists are performing for the show that day. This is a requirement of the Equity union, which represents professional performers and other creative workers from across the spectrum of the entertainment, creative and cultural industries.
Digital Cast Board (DCB) runs on any PC within the theatre network, for example the company mangers computer. This software communicates over ethernet to another PC which displays the cast board data, via a large television screen. This can be positioned anywhere in the theatre, in this case, the foyer. Every day, a member of staff for example the company manager, stage manager or dance captain can input the show data using a user friendly interface, which is then saved and sent to the live cast board. Additional features of the software allow the user to open and save show setups, add, remove and update performer information and create PDF paper versions of the show setup to email to relevant departments and staff.
The entire software package is designed around the needs of MAMMA MIA! London, but can of course be designed around the requirements of any other show.
